About 'To The End' Contests
This community is a contest site. It's just starting off as an icon site, but I might expand it into a blend contest site as well. Anyway. Below are a set of rules you must read before posting.
Community Rules
This isn't about judging the person who makes the icon[s], it's about judging the quality of their icon[s]. So there will be absolutely no bashing, whatsoever here at To The End community. If I see you bashing at all, you're out. Take the arguements/bashing to private comments. If you're clueless on how to do that--then too bad.

o1. For now, this is an icon contest community, not a blends/wallpaper, etc. So keep it that unless I state otherwise.

o2. No spamming. What I mean by that is...don't come on here to find icon brushes/text. Suppose you just so happen to come across this community and you see an awesome brush, don't even think of commenting 'Oh My God! Where'd you get that brush??' No. Just don't do it--&& I won't get on your case. Keep all one-on-one convos to your own journals. Don't add this community just to talk to other icon makers.

o3. I personally-don't accept bullshitters. If you have something to say about the site, how I run it, or anything I allow or don't allow, get the fuck off my damn community because no one cares, or wants to hear what immaturity you have to say.

o4. This isn't a community to bash my default icon, layout, and/or head banner, or a members default icon, layout, and/or head banner. You're just judging their icons that are specifically made for this community.

o5. If coming here to take an icon is your wish--then so be it. BUT you must credit. If no credit is shown--expect hatemail/comments from each member of the community. Trust me. Each member.
Posting Rules && More Information

o1. First and foremost: All icons must be 100x100, at all times. Duh. If you're an icon maker--shouldn't you know that? [Excuse the sarcasm.]

o2. No voting for oneself.

o3. You may only submit one icon for each contest.

o4. You must use the photos I give you. Just because I state 'Gerard Way' as the icon theme, doesn't mean you can go right ahead and use some other Gerard photo that I didn't list. I give you bases, so don't crop anything.

o5. Post your icon as a comment, then I'll save it, delete the comment and post it as an entry.

All icons that are entered will be saved in the entry, and voting will be closed. I'll give entries a week [three days once the community is busy.] and voting a week. [again, three days once the community is busy.] Once the voting starts, or the submitting starts, I'll be sure to let you know by posting a new entry. So make sure to check in. If you don't--then you miss out.

Now here is the most important rule of them all, because with this rule, we're sure to keep this contest site at its greatest.

.BAD ICON vs. GOOD ICON.

This here is a bad icon:

Why? Simple, coloring is cool--maybe a bit washed out and could use a perhaps 67% Softlight layer, or maybe even 80%. & the eyes are sharpened to an extreme. It'd be good that way, but to make it great, they could've fixed the coloring a bit.

Same goes for the one below:

It's obvious they added a tan 'Darken' layer. It's just too much.

Washed out icons are bad

This is a good icon:

What better to have an icon where you don't need fancy words, or brushes--any of that? Like the one above, it obviously has a theme [the green/blue selective color theme.] && all they needed was a turquoise screen layer. Perfection, yes? More examples of good icons are:

Although they could've blurred the skin a bit, it's great otherwise. Good icons appeal to the eye, and this one makes you go 'Ooo' or 'Hmm'.

This icon is a perfect example of not 'over-using' a multiply or darken layer. Like the bad one of the guy [Brendon Urie] sitting above? TOO much of the tan darkened layer, in this icon they used a multiply/darken layer, but they didn't overuse it because it simply just looks right. You can still see the color of his rose cheeks, and the different tones in his skin are visible through the multiply layer as well.
